Hi! My name is Adam Gagliotti. I am teaching 8th grade Social Studies and am so excited for another great year at McConnell Middle School. I am originally from a small town in western Pennsylvania! I went to Slippery Rock University and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in History in 2006. I continued my education at SRU and received my M.Ed. in Secondary Education Social Studies in 2008. For my first three years of teaching, I taught high school Social Studies and coached boy's varsity soccer in Edenton, North Carolina. Following teaching in North Carolina, I returned back to Pennsylvania and taught Middle School Social Studies at a charter school in inner city Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for three years. In September 2014 I joined McConnell Middle School in the middle of the year. The students, parents and faculty made me quickly feel apart of the McConnell family and am happy to begin another successful year! I am an advocate of problem based learning which challenges students to be active risk takers and be responsible for their learning. I also try and give students constant feedback on their academic performance through the use of visible thing routines and formative assessments. I truly love what I do and am glad I can make a difference in the lives of my students each and every day!
Besides being an educator, I am also a husband and father. I have a wonderful wife, Jessica, who supports my long hours and the dedication I put into working with my students. I have a 5 year old daughter, Aubrey, who teaches me patience and appreciation each and every day. Some of my hobbies include reading, watching movies, backpacking and camping, sports, kayaking, and hanging out with my family. I am an avid traveler and am always looking for a new adventure!
